Scarlet Virginia is a four piece folk rock band out of Raleigh, NC
with songs of magic, darkness, and fairy tales. Songwriter
and multi-instrumentalist Lindsey Collins comes from a background of Celtic and folk, while violinist Katharine Liang comes from classical, bassist Ben Halliday from alternative rock, and drummer and percussionist Kyle Duppstatd from Latin and jazz. The result of this mixture is an organic and diverse acoustic based collection of tunes that are both inspiring and haunting. Scarlet Virginia currently play live in the Triangle and beyond. Their first official EP release, "By Lamplight" is available on iTunes and at their shows. They plan to start work on their first full studio album later in the year.
"Listen. Scarlet Virginia has secrets. Front porch backwoods summer evening muse secrets. The kind that linger on in the air long after the fireflies have gone and the distant highway noise settles down for the night. The kind that make you feel happy and sad and contrite and whimsically optimistic all at the same time because somewhere deep into that thick Southern American night seep the ghosts of what might have been and what may never be. And so we all go into that all-encompassing darkness of time, blind but for the music."
